Once upon a time, this girl right here thought that *gasp* all moisturizers were the same. After all, the main purpose of a facial moisturizer is to just hydrate the skin, and reinforce the natural skin barrier. Any product would do the trick, right? After all, I've never had any huge concerns regarding my face. However, after trying many products and researching for the longest I realized that I was being so silly to ever think this way!
The skin is a grateful being that absorbs anything that you place on it, so how do you even know if a moisturizer is working for you? You can always start off by doing the absorption test. which is the easiest method. If you evenly apply moisturizer to your face, it shouldn't take longer than 5-10 for the skin to fully absorb the product. Mind you, if your hands slip and you apply too much it doesn't matter, give your face more time.
If you apply the product and after 10 minutes, you're still feeling sticky? Your skin isn't really absorbing the moisturizer or taking all it's benefits. If this keeps happening for more than a week, you should probably buy/try another one.
That's another thing you should keep in mind that probably no one is going to tell you, but I will! When it comes to moisturizers, It doesn't take you weeks/months to try/test out a product. If you don't see results within one week, it probably isn't working for you. Don't continue using a product you feel 'meh' about or that deep in your heart you know that your face looks the same even when yo're not using it. For the most part, your face should feel soft, plump and protected regardless of your skin type.

Influenster (Thank you!) sent me the Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer to try out and review a few months ago. At first I was a bit shocked because this one is on the high end price range for moisturizers retailing for $65. However, I've only read good things about this brand and honestly, the only reason I hadn't tried it before was the price.
This moisturizer claims to be good for ALL skin types. Normal, Oily, Combination, Dry; Personally, I have normal to oily skin. And, it's said to be helpful with skin's texture and dullness. Also, it's safe to use day and night.
Their official website states that their key ingredients are:
★ Glycolic & Lactic Acids help loosen and slough away dead surface skin cells to reveal smooth, glowing skin.
★ Pineapple, Pumpkin, & Papaya Enzymes help to enhance skin exfoliation.
★ Napol Cactus Fruit Extract helps to reduce any potential irritation caused by AHAs.
Right of the bat I noticed that my skin absorbed the product in a heartbeat. Great sign, as I already explained why in the beginning. This also explains why it worked really good under my makeup. For the longest I had been searching for a good moisturizer that wouldn't break my foundation. (If you read my Fenty Foundation review you know that I had been searching for quite some time now!) You feel it working the moment you apply it but not so much that it will irritate your skin. I've only felt it tingle more so after exfoliating my face.
Having oily skin is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you will age gracefully, and let's be real here I still look like a teenager. However, It comes with the price of pores. Pores over wrinkles, right? With pores comes texture and this moisturizer significantly has improved my skin's texture. It's not something that'll disappear forever since my skin will just naturally keep producing oils due to the nature of my face and the climate of were I live however, it's been so much easier to apply makeup now and actually, my face isn't as oily around the T zone as it used to.
I can't advocate for the benefits with uneven skin, since I don't have that problem but overall I totally understand why this product has been so popular and the price. It's a pretty big jar that will last you quite some time. I apply generously, and when I mean generously I mean over the top alooot since I tend to just moisturize my face once a day in the morning. It's been about two months now since I've started using it and I still have the entire jar left.
